It was suddenly. I was sitting in my chair, looking out the window when, suddenly, a big HURRICANE swept everyone on the street. In an instant. I didn't have time to say anything, and when I got up I was told that I couldn't be with ANYONE. Not to worry, that at the most in five minutes they would send me the zoom link. And that all people would be on the other side. Like this?
Maybe it wasn’t really a hurricane, not even a whirlwind. But we were all CAUGHT BY A WAVE, a strange NEW TIME, when the touch was denied us, when the other was on the other side of the screen. And now, that we cannot touch, embrace, hold hands, what happens to the BODY? How do we come to be with ourselves, if we don't have the other to give us a REFLEX?
The show starts from the idea of losing the essential in the construction of our identity: affection and proximity to the other. On stage, a character, victim of a great catastrophe, losing contact with others, loses herself, without knowing it. When trying to solve your lack, you will make a journey more interior than exterior, you will have the feeling of being double, triple, of being many at the same time, in a permanent effort to understand how you relate to others, to belong, to be part of.
O Rebento presents a theater show with a very present physical component, where two actors appeal to the senses of the younger ones.
This proposal, which emerges in the aftermath of a pandemic that distanced us from contact with others, is an artistic reflection on how the growth and search for identity is deeply marked by the way of touching the other and of the other touching us.
